Targets on TCM (NEWS)

Sorry about the last minute update, but I just noticed that one of my favorite Karloff movies is on TCM tonight, Peter Bogdonovich’s 1968 cult classic Targets. It’s a very different kind of Karloff horror film and I don’t dare give too much away about it… but it’s excellent none the less so check it out if you haven’t already.

I'd bet youd like POPCORN,then too.im really surprised they're showing this one, really prescient and disturbing,i wish Karloff's final film was this and not those awful foreign flicks,it'd be a great swan song.speaking of TCM,what'd you all think of that Val Lewton documentary?real somber and well done, but the only thing i learned that i didn't know was that he was a novelist, gonna have to search out his books.

Me too. The cool thing about TARGETS is that I used to live right on the border of Reseda and Tarzana, just a few blocks south of where the Reseda drive-in (featured in the movie) was filmed. It was of course demolised years ago but it's neat to see that section of the valley and what it was like in the late 60's. I think now there's a grocery store there. There's some neat pix here of the drive-in: http://www.drive-ins.com/theater/carese

I vaguely remember Popcorn, I guess I should check it out again.

I recorded the Lewton doc but haven't had time to watch it yet... been getting caught up on the Sarah Conner Chronicles though and really enjoying it. Finally, something on FOX worth watching.

I agree with Horror pariah. I wish Targets was the movie Karloff went out with. Those Mexican movies he did are just horrible. This is a smart, well done movie with Karloff basically playing himself.

But if he had gone out with Targets then we wouldn't have him playing The Baron in Mad Monster Party which is easily the greatest stop motion animtion monster feature for kids ever made. I actually kind of like Cauldron of Blood too.

Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service is up to Vol 5 now, it just came out a few weeks ago. Vol 6 comes out in February.
