Aw, man, one of my all-time faves. In fact, this is the first movie I can remember seeing in the theater, when I was a very, very young kid. I always remembered it fondly, then years later in adulthood I rented it just to see how silly it was--and was shocked at how awesomely it held up!

Now whenever I'm flipping channels and I come across this, I just put the remote down and watch it through, since it's clear I won't find anything else as good--unless The Maltese Falcon is on, or something. Great stuff.

Love the blog too, of course.

THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVES TOO. I REALLY NEED TO START BUYING ALL THE HARRYHAUSEN FILMS ON DVD. I HAVE THE VIDEOS BUT I BET THESE ARE REALLY AWESOME ON DVD.

You guys wouldn't believe how obsessed with this movie I was as a kid. Every week in the 70's the new TV Guide would come in the mail and it was always the first thing I'd look for when frantically flipping through it. Fast forward 40 years and now my 3 year old is equally obsessed... he watches the skeleton battle over and over. Basically if it's got a skeleton in it he goes nutso with excitement. A true monster kid in the making, I mean how many 3 year olds do you know that can already identify and name all the Universal monsters?

Mine can. :)

That's hilarious. I thought I was the only dad insisting that his 3-year-old know the difference between "Frankenstein" and "Frankenstein's Monster."

She does, too. 'At's my girl. :D

>;"No!i wanna watch the REAL one!"....

So what exactly is "the real one" in regards to a 12 year old? The Deniro monster?

No,i was saying I was 12 when i made my clay-mation rip-off of JASON & THE ARGONAUTS,my nephew's 8years old,not 12.he bashes movies by making fun of the fx(he calls CGI effects "real",he hates FRANKENSTEIN because it's in Black & White),even ones as recent as THE THING(!!??!),you don't even wanna hear about his opinion of the'33 KING KONG.there IS hope though, for today's kids,as your post has shown me,for example,my friend's son loved HORROR OF DRACULA.
