And least we forget that Hessler also directed the dreadfully entertaining Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park too!

LOOKS LIKE HE WAS THE KING OF THE MFTVM IN THE 70S...... I DIDNT REALIZE HE DIRECTED SO MANY OF THESE. KISS MEETS THE PHANTOM OF THE PARK IS PRETTY TERRIBLE

RIP RIP RIP AND DESTROY!!!

Doesn't Jason Robards seem out of place in Rue Morgue? The famous story is that it was to be Price but he had some contract issue with the studio. And doesn't Cry of the Banshee seem like a poor version of Witchfinder General? I do like when Christopher Lee throws Price in an acid vat in Scream and Scream Again. But, Peter Cushing is wasted in that movie.

Yeah, if the movie was even half as intriguing as the poster (and if it of course starred Vincent Price instead) it would be much more memorable. Still not bad, but certainly no classic like Scream and Scream Again.

Hessler also directed one of my favorite Kolchak The Night Stalker episodes, The Spanish Moss Murders. I can still remember being a little kid and watching this episode when it first aired. I remember that night fondly because me and my mom were putting up the xmas tree while it was on and the tree kind of scared me for some reason because it looked like the moss monster before we decorated it!

Somebody needs to release Scream Pretty Peggy and Strange Possession of Mrs Oliver on a double feature dvd too... would love to have good copies of these someday and throw out the old vhs.
