HERE to see another pre-code comic currently on
ebay that has already escaped many people's price range, probably because of the inclusion of
Basil Wolverton and
Bernard Baily. But this issue is also famous for having been raked acrossed the coals in a 1954 anti-comics article in
Reader’s Digest entitled
“For the Kiddies to Read.” I’m sure most parents just adored the
“I Killed Mary” story.
SOLD FOR $355.00 with 10 bids!

I was watching this auction too and just deleted it after seeing it's already $200 more than I can afford!
these auctions are fun to watch as the price escalates to ridiculous heights
couldn't believe how much that venus issue went for and this one will probably go for more!!
I watched this auction for a bit but when things get too expensive I bail. People pay some ridiculous inflated prices for things. I sure wish I had one of these editions to post for sale! I have found some pretty cool comics on auctionoops.com which is a website dedicated to researching misspelled items on eBay and linking them to their website. If you do a search on auctionoops just type in the CORRECT spelling of the item you are interested in or simply comics or comic books and begin browsing all the comic items that the general eBay shoppers are not looking at due to misspelled words. Since virtually nobody is looking at these items you can place your bid and expect to get quite a bargain for most everything that you bid on. We all know how much some of our favorite comic items can sell for prices that are way out of our price leagues so here is an innovative way to pick up deals that the average eBayers might not think of. I have my eye on a few cool comics!
The stuff that used to get people's panties in a wad just seem so tame now.
I LOVE LITTLE DETAILS LIKE THAT ABOUT CERTAIN ISSUES (THE READERS DIGEST STORY) ESPECIALLY IF ITS AN ISSUE I OWN I REALLY FEEL LIKE I HAVE A PART OF HISTORY NO MATTER HOW UGLY THE TRUTH GOT TWISTED BACK THEN!
Any chance you can scan "I Killed Mary"? Looks very intruiging.
If you do scan I Killed Mary, let me know and I'll send you the ultra-gory Eerie Pubs version by Dick Ayers.

very interesting blog...keep it up
I don't have this issue, I wish I could scan in I Killed Mary!
I'd also like to thank jlgroh for telling me about Auction Oops!
I don't have the original, but I have a black and white reprint from Stanley's Chilling Tales of Horror.

When I was a little girl my uncle had a bunch of these comics. He used to babysit me and I would just sit there and read them. This site makes me miss that so much. I love it!
