The Mad Magician (NEWS)

AC Comics have apparently been putting out dvds for a little while now, mostly they have old serials, but they do have some rare, unreleased horror classics like Burn Witch Burn and an affordable copy of Fiend Without a Face. Recently I noticed in the new issue of Previews that in January they're releasing The Mad Magician ('54) starring Vincent Price, as part of a new "Crypt of Horror" series line. It's not yet listed on their website but you can click HERE for more info when it becomes available.

BE COOL TO HAVE SOME OF THESE ON DVD FINALLY BUT YUCK THEIR COVER ART AND PACKAGING LOOKS REALLY CHEAP. SORT OF LIKE THEIR COMICS.

i like the cover artwork, quite retro and has an air of nostalgia about it. great blog!

I think what the first commentor was referring to was the dvd cover art on the AC website, not the original Mad Magician half sheet image that I posted here on the blog. Some of their dvd cover art is taken from the original posters and that's fine and retro, but some of them look no better than home made bootlegs... like the ones with black and white covers.

Mad Magician is a fun movie. It is not great by any means. But, if you ever wanted to cut your boss's head off with a giant buzz saw for revenge, put it in a bag and then accidentally mix up the bag with another bag, this is the movie for you. Also, Ava Gardner looks pretty darn good in this movie.

Not sure if this will be in 3D... I'd say probably not though, mainly because of who's releasing it.

Opps. I realized I made a mistake. It is Eva Gabor in this one, not Ava Gardner, although she is in a couple of Price movies. And I stand by my comment of her looking good in this one. I love the insane face Price makes when he uses the buzz saw on the man who stole his wife.

I'm pretty sure we all knew who you meant. Maybe even Zsa Zsa. Or maybe everybody knew you were wrong but didn't wanna say anything because after all you are Dr Phibes right? Nobody wants to check their cellphone messages and hear: "Nine shall die! Eight have died, soon to be nine. Nine eternities in doom!"

PS: Not that I wanna die by biblical plagues or anything but maybe you could learn to spell "oops" right too.

Correcting me, eh Karswell? I had a plan for your first born, but my slow moving acid machine is in for repair. Perhaps you can tell me when you will open your front door so I can time my catapult just right?

Too late! I already saturated myself with an anti-flying bronze unicorn head repellant spray...
